Learn How and Where to Catch Tarpon
We offer tarpon fishing charters in Boca Grande, FL
Boca Grande, Florida is unlike any other place in the world when it comes to
Tarpon Fishing. As the waters start to warm up in the late spring and early summer,
thousands of migratory Tarpon pour into Charlotte harbor, Boca Grande Pass, and other
nearby islands such as Little Gasparilla and Captiva.
The average tarpon in the area weighs between 80-100 pounds, and oftentimes
are a lot bigger than that. Tarpon put up great fights and are known for their explosive
power and ability to jump from the water!
When the tarpon migrate to our area, the majority of fish tend to be found in Boca
Grande Pass on the south end of the Island, or close to shore from the white sand
beaches of Boca Grande. Therefore we offer two types of Tarpon fishing trips, Pass
fishing and Beach/Harbor Fishing, to best suit you!
Fishing for tarpon in Boca Grande Pass is one of the most productive ways to
catch many tarpon. Tarpon feed heavily in Boca Grande Pass according to tidal
movement. I will get you out fishing based on when the tarpon should start feeding. This
changes daily, so it's important to be flexible with departure times for pass tarpon
fishing. But, when the tarpon starts feeding there is no trip like a Boca Grande Pass
fishing trip!
Another method of tarpon fishing that is very productive is beach and harbor fishing.
Tarpon travel the beaches and shallow grass flats surrounding Boca Grande creating
opportunities to sight fish with spinning and fly fishing gear. If you prefer seeing and
casting to fish, this is the trip for you!
